Rapamycin, also known as sirolimus or AY-22989, is a specific mTOR inhibitor and has potent immunosuppressive and antiproliferative properties. It is used in coating coronary stents, treatment of lung diseases such as lymphangioleiomyomatosis and preventing organ transplant rejection, especially useful for kidney transplant rejection. By reducing the sensitivity to interleukin-2 (IL-2) through mTOR inhibiting, rapamycin inhibits activation of T cells and B cells.

Lung Cancer Cell Lines: A549, SPC-A-1, 95D and NCI-H446 Incubation Time: 24hours Concentration at 100 nM: 30-40% reduction in cell proliferation Concentration at 12.5 nM: ~10% reduction in cell proliferation * Above data is for reference only. Accuracy is not confirmed. |
In Vivo
|
Animal Model: 24 male nu/nu mice, aged 4-5 week old, weighted 15-20g Dosage: 2.0mg/kg Administration: Intraperitoneal injection every other day for 28 days Result: In monotherapy group, effect of inhibition is moderate. Significantly increased inhibitory effect of tumor growth is achieved when combined with Metformin. * Above data is for reference only. Accuracy is not confirmed. |
